We primarily serve Santa Barbara, Montecito, Hope Ranch, Summerland, Carpinteria, Goleta and Toro Canyon, and we travel to nearby destinations such as Ojai depending on the scope of the project.
How long has Firebird AV been in business?
We've been designing and integrating technology for Santa Barbara area homes and businesses since 2010 — more than 15 years. We're a California licensed contractor, CSLB 1108192.
Do you work with architects, builders, and interior designers?
Yes — and we prefer to. The earlier we're involved, the better the result. During new construction or a remodel, we coordinate low-voltage infrastructure with your trades so wiring is roughed in correctly the first time, with nothing left to chance after drywall.
How do I get started on a project?
Request a consultation through our site or call us directly. We'll talk through your goals, budget, and timeline, then schedule a walkthrough or showroom visit. From there we develop a design and a clear, itemized proposal — no pressure, no guesswork.
Cost & process
How much does a home automation or AV system cost?
It depends entirely on scope — a single room differs greatly from a whole estate. Most of our residential projects begin in the tens of thousands and scale with the size of the home and the systems involved. We provide a detailed, itemized proposal up front so you know exactly what you're investing in.
Do you offer financing?
We can discuss financing options to fit larger projects during your consultation. Many clients phase their investment over time, and we design infrastructure with that flexibility in mind.
How long does a typical installation take?
Small projects can be completed in days; whole-home systems coordinated with construction run over the course of the build. After our walkthrough we provide a realistic timeline and keep you updated at every milestone.
Technology & brands
Which brands and systems do you install?
We're an authorized dealer for premium platforms including Lutron, Crestron, Savant, and Origin Acoustics, alongside Sony, Bowers & Wilkins, and Ubiquiti networking. We select equipment to fit your home and goals — never to push a single house brand.
Can you make speakers and technology invisible?
Absolutely — it's our specialty. We install architecturally integrated and fully invisible speakers (including plaster-over models), recessed displays, flush keypads, and concealed wiring so the technology disappears into the architecture and the room stays beautiful.
Will my system still work if the internet goes down?
Core functions like lighting, shades, and local audio are designed to keep working without an internet connection. We also engineer enterprise-grade networking with resilience in mind, so your system stays reliable day to day.
Ownership & support
Do you work on systems not originally installed by Firebird?
Usually, yes — on a case-by-case basis. System takeovers are one of our specialties. We audit the existing equipment, document it, and bring it up to a standard we can properly support and stand behind.
Will I own and control my system, or am I locked in?
You own it, fully. Every Firebird system is handed over with documentation and your own administrator credentials — no black boxes, no held-hostage passwords. That's our stewardship principle: you're never dependent on us to use your own home.
What kind of support do you offer after installation?
We provide ongoing service and support, and because every system is fully documented and labeled, diagnosing and resolving issues is fast. Many systems can be supported remotely; for anything hands-on, we're local.
